Fall Colors
Hi all, my wife and I were able to get away last week for our anniversary (32 years by the way). We stayed at an Airbnb in Chatham NY and it was the perfect time to catch the fall colors. My wife was kind enough to put up with my request to capture a timelapse video of our hike. We went to Beebe Hill one day and climbed the old firetower and I was able capture this timelapse of the great fall colors.
Sunset Over New York City
Hi all,Hope you have been staying well during these trying times. I’ve continued to distract myself with creating timelapse and macro videos/photos. I’ve recently been studying Youtube videos of timelapse creators to help me refine my sunrise/sunset videos.
There are some technical challenges to capturing and displaying these type of videos. Here I present my latest effort. I like this one because it captures a lot of aircraft zooming around over upper Manhattan (very Blade Runneresque looking) and at the end you can see some *stars* appear over the city! Not something we city dwellers are used to seeing.

Timelapse Using Slider
I have been experimenting with creating timelapse video clips. I recently upped my game a bit by buying a motorized slider. I did some research and based on features and price I chose a slider from GVM the GT-80WD.
This timelapse uses the slider to capture storm clouds over Woodside in NYC.
Labor Day Time Lapse
Like many other New Yorkers since the city was hit with Covid-19 I’ve spent a lot of time staying home with my wife. To help pass the time I’ve started creating time lapse videos shot from the terrace of my coop.
I live in Queens and I have to say that I have a great view of upper Manhattan and the Bronx. Here is my latest time lapse that was created of the Labor Day weekend. The city enjoyed perfect weather for the holiday.
Hacking Passwords
I think everyone hates passwords and they especially hate complex passwords. I’ve been using a password manager for years now which allows me to easily create complex and unique passwords for every web site that I use.
I’ve been able to convert my wife into using the same password manager software and she has become very comfortable using it. Convincing other family members and friends has been a bit more difficult. Using easy to remember passwords is convenient but could be risky. Using that same password across multiple sites is even more risky.
I just came across an article that visually depicts how long it would take to ‘crack’ a password of a specific length and complexity. Could be an eyebrow raising read for some people.
